Marina Pez Vela is currently in the planning and pre-development stages to incorporate a Marine Maintenance Facility to accommodate the needs of our clientele. When it comes to customer care, experience, capability and location we pride ourselves in being able to offer a quality maintenance and service program to the boat owners, captains and crews of Marina Pez Vela and beyond. Attention to detail and the highest standards of customer service will be available to our patrons and visitors alike.
Located in the immediate area of Quepos and Manuel Antonio are wide array of hotels and vacation rental villas. Ranging in size from small boutique B&Bs to large luxury resorts, there is accommodation for every preference and budget. Our front office staff will be happy to provide you with recommendations.
Marina Pez Vela is only minutes away from a wealth of great dining experiences. Dining to suit every taste is available in the area: wood-fired pizza, homemade pastas, burgers and fries, and even haute cuisine. It is no surprise that seafood is a local specialty, and the restaurants serve up fresh caught local fish, lobster and shrimp. Many restaurants cater to fishermen and will cook your catch for you. Small family-owned “sodas” serve traditional Costa Rican fare, such as the “casado”, consisting of rice, beans, salad and your choice of chicken, fish or steak, and the ubiquitous “arroz con pollo”.
There are many fun nightspots close by to Marina Pez Vela. Several bars catering to fishermen are located in downtown Quepos, along with several late night clubs and even a disco. Many local bars have “ladies night” at least once a week where ladies receive discounts and drink specials. You can find live music every night of the week at various restaurants throughout the area.
Our Marine Store offers an array of gifts and souvenirs, including a selection of Marina Pez Vela branded apparel and accessories. The town of Quepos has many small shops offering a wide variety of souvenirs and crafts made by local artisans, including hand-crafted silver jewelry and locally designed fashions. Several galleries display works by local artists. Locally roasted coffee is available to purchase and even ship home.

Annual Chicken Festival in Silencio, Costa Rica. The town of Silencio is located 20 minutes south of Quepos, near the Savegre River. Silencio is an operating autonomous and agricultural co-op dedicated to the production of palm oil, grains, reforestation, cattle and protection of the surrounding ecology of the land. This annual festival promotes a source of income for the families living there and also is a great way to bring the town together and visitors from other regions. 700 free-range chickens and 150 pigs were raised for the sole purpose of providing food to the festival. The food was amazing and you can see in the pictures ladies making homemade tortillas, chorreadas and many other typical Costa Rican food items. We enjoyed tailgating and eating many of these items throughout the day! The kids had a blast as there were tons of things for them to do including riding horses, ziplining, riding a mechanical bull, a giant slip and slide, among others! There was also live music and a group that interpreted modern dance, something fairly innovative for this region where the local rythms of salsa, merengue and cumbia usually dominate the dance floor. A great festival put on by Coopesilencio!
