The largest marina in the country is about to open its doors which is expected to reactivate the economy and employment in the area of Quepos, where will be located.
Its scale is such that 25 football fields can fit only in the area where the boats are.
Costa Rica's Marina Pez Vela in Quepos is to open this autumn, with the first 100 floating concrete slips available for customers following the completion of Phase I of construction.

Some senior staff, including Ambassador Cianchette, from the US Embassy recently visited the Manuel Antonio and Quepos area to take note of the development efforts underway in the community. Officials met with the mayor of Quepos, Oscar Monge and other local civic action committees to discuss issues of security, environment, illegal fishing, and counter narcotics. Ambassador Cianchette also visited the Marina Pez Vela site where he met with Harold Lovelady, owner of the up and coming 300 slip marina.
Both basin dredging and rock slope protection work are in the final stages.
Decorative splash walls are under fabrication and are scheduled for placement on the outer portions of the marina basin starting in a few weeks. A sailfish emblem has been cast into each splash wall unit, to highlight the theme of the project as a fisherman’s marina.
Ambassador Cianchette and other senior staff from the U.S. Embassy visited the Quepos area to meet with and participate in meetings with Quepos Mayor Oscar Monge and various local civic action committees on topics from security and counternarcotics to environmental issues and illegal fishing.

Designed to be the first and largest full-service marina in Costa Rica, the first phase of construction of Marina Pez Vela in Quepos is nearly complete and ready for its global close-up.
