Quepos sportfishing has long been a draw for international anglers. With calm seas and an abundance of game fish, fishing enthusiasts have found that Quepos is the ideal place to make that catch of a lifetime.
The water temperature in this region provides the perfect environment for a variety of species of fish. Sailfish, marlin, mahi mahi, yellow fin tuna, snook, wahoo, amberjack, mackerel, cubera, and roosterfish can be caught here almost year round.
Guide to the fishing “seasons” for Quepos Sportfishing:
Marlin – Best from September through November.
Sailfish – November to April is most abundant, although the rest of the year is still very good.
Dorado – Late May through October, but is caught often throughout the year.
Yellowfin Tuna – Available during Marlin and Sailfish season. Small tuna is found year-round.
Wahoo – Year round.
Snapper – Availability year round.
Snook – Fishing is good from March through May and September through November.
Roosterfish – Excellent availability year round.
